Article: The Devil

The Devil

The ouroboros, and the Devil card both represent cycles of entrapment and the duality of creation and destruction. In Egyptian symbolism, the ouroboros signifies the endless cycle of life, death, and rebirth-a self-perpetuating loop with no clear beginning or end. While this symbol can embody eternal renewal, it also suggests entrapment in an unbroken cycle. The Devil card mirrors this darker aspect, representing bondage to material desires, unhealthy attachments, anc lusions ot power. Both symbols convey the tension between liberation anc entrapment: the ouroboros warns of being caught in repetitive cycles without growth, and the Devil card highlights how we can become enslaved by our own temptations and vices. Together, they reveal the dual nature of existence, where freedom is only achieved by recognizing and breaking the chains that keep us bound in destructive patterns.
